To celebrate the launch of the biography Juliet Prowse: Born to Dance, Juliet (the author) held a wonderful heartwarming launch at the LAMTA Academy at Theatre on the Bay on 7 April 2025. With Juliet, the dancer’s contribution to the world of dance and entertainment, the LAMTA Academy provided the ideal venue with the talk being led by Duane Alexander, co-founder of LAMTA, and a performance of “If My Friends Could See Me Now” from Leah Mari, LAMTA student and the recent Fleur du Cap winner. It was a fitting celebration for Juliet and this book to honour her life.

Through the support of Exclusive Books, an additional launch was held at Exclusive Books Constantia and a forthcoming launch will be held at Exclusive Books Hyde Park in Johannesburg on Thursday, 24 Aprl. Additional launches are being planned in other locations.
Juliet, the dancer performed regularly in the US from 1960 until her death in 1996. She featured on screen and stage, was on 100 variety and games shows, and had her own show in Las Vegas for 21 years. Juliet also performed in Australia and in London’s West End in Sweet Charity, Mame and I Do! I Do! with Rock Hudson. But she was always considered a South African with Doug Gordon of the Rand Daily Mail saying this about her act in Johannesburg in 1976:
“With her superbly drilled company, glittering visual stagecraft and Vegas all-star professionalism, her opening night was more than a success – it was a resounding victory. South Africa should be proud of their dynamic daughter!”
