Juliet Prowse, the aunt of the author, was a dancer/actress who burst into the international spotlight in her first Hollywood movie, Can-Can in 1960. Considered exotic and talented, she caught the media’s attention and her romance and subsequent engagement to Frank Sinatra fuelled their attention further.
Juliet’s dream was to dance on the biggest stage, and through hard work, determination, and making the most of her opportunities, she became a triple threat on the stage and screen for four decades. She starred opposite Elvis Presley in G.I. Blues, was a lead in a 1960s TV series, Mona McCluskey, and won awards for Sweet Charity in Vegas and London in the mid-1960s.
Her dream was to open a show on Broadway, but as her career progressed, it seemed to be elusive. She continued to build her world-class modern dance company to create her Vegas show and was one of Desert Inn’s Million Dollar Babies on a $1 million contract in the struggling 1970s. She won the Female Entertainer of the Year in Las Vegas three times with competition from Liza Minnelli, Ann-Margret, Barbra Streisand and Shirley MacLaine, while her acts also won Best Production Sequence awards..
With her endless legs and mischievous charm, Juliet got caught up in crazy romances with Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Warren Beatty, and got married to and had a son with John McCook of The Bold and the Beautiful.
The original version of 'The White Mountains' was probably just about worth publishing.
